I played my first wedding DJ set! In celebration of my dear friends, Eliyah & Dream, and their beautiful cosmic marriage ceremony on April 19, 2025 at Heartland in Wheatland, California 💜
It was such an honor to be asked to bless their union with some bass vibes! I put a lot of intention into the song selection & rehearsed it, & I'm super proud of it! However.. it felt like a rite of passage in my evolution as a DJ, cuz it was my first experience with people giving me requests in the middle of a carefully curated journey...
About an hour into the 90 minutes of sweet, sappy, fun bass music I had planned, I caved to the pressure from a few people who kept coming over to the DJ booth to tell me bass music sucks and they don't know how to dance to it so they wanna hear house music & pop like Sexyy Red..
I had a couple bass house tracks planned around that point, so after I played them I went off-script & ended up freestyling another hour & a half! With music I haven't really practiced with much 🙃
But I gotta say I'm also pretty happy with how well that second half went considering the circumstances! 😝 I've never even freestyled to a crowd before, let alone one of like 100 people, most of whom I've never met, some of whom had just been rude to me for playing the genre the groom requested lol.. I did have the dancefloor jumping during that second half tho, I tell ya!
I still think the first half is better, but you can be the judge haha 🎃
Cheers to the happy couple and their exciting new chapter! I wish them a lifetime of happiness & mutual fulfillment 🥂 I hope relistening to this mix will evoke many memories from that magical day! I love y'all!
