Episode 1: Introduction to Slam Nuba: This month we sat down with Jozer, Hakeen, Toluwanimi, and Johnny who are all connected to Slam Nuba as you will find out, and we discuss the History, culture, and what Slam Nuba means to them. This first episode is meant to just give you a small hint of what Slam Nuba is. We hope you enjoy.
Slam Nuba is a nationally recognized award winning organization that focuses on literacy, mentorship, and competitive performance based poetry. The mission of Slam Nuba is to promote the creation and performance of poetry, by cultivating literary activities and engaging community through the power of the written and spoken word.
This AfterFM exclusive project is a collaboration with KGNU Community Radio in Boulder/Denver/FtCollins. KGNU and Slam Nuba both foster community as the main factor in why they exist, so melding them together was a no brainer. This monthly series will be a look at Slam Nuba in different ways from History, poet exclusives, a look at who comes to Slam Nuba, and everything in between. Each month we will sit down with different people connected to Slam Nuba, and talk to them about different subjects as well as different aspects on themselves. The episode will always leave a little hanging as we always want you to attend a Slam Nuba event and not use this project as your out to not attend. Visit Slamnuba.com to find out when their next event is at the Crossroads Theater in Denver, Colorado.
