The underground scene in the Dutch border town of Enschede is small but fanatical. Audiences dance between robots and play independent games on retro TVs and consoles in side rooms, while listening to a wide variety of music. The common aesthetic of the city's art, music and events is skewed, idiosyncratic, unfinished and politically engaged. SoundUnbound organizes performances and parties in the city and runs a label for artists from the area. Often they lead the parties from behind the turntables as DJs, always looking for new sounds and ideas, balancing on the tension between the dance floor and the ambition to take the music beyond the expected.
