Description

Executive Dean Ken Johnson (Twitter: @DrKenDO) of The Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine did not come to the role of Executive Dean without spending a lengthy period of time in the practice of medicine. He is widely well-regarded for his expertise in the clinical application of Osteopathic Manual Medicine with a special emphasis in its role during pregnancy. Now he oversees the operations of the largest medical school in the State of Ohio.

In this episode of Rotations Ryan Schropp gets Dean Johnson to go into the massive job of running a large medical school which is now geographically distributed on three different campuses. In this interview we learn about decision making and leadership in managing staff and faculty talent, addressing medical student needs, developing relevant curriculum and soon overseeing the groundbreaking of what will be the most modern medical school campus in the United States of America.

We all had a great time with the Dean and we are grateful that in spite of pressing scheduling challenges and his non-stop travel and meeting calendar he took time to describe a pathway for future medical leaders.
