In honor of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, I want to address the growing body of crimes committed against human conception using "Donum Vitae", an instruction on the gift of life promulgated by John Paul II in 1987. This homily is in no way meant to offend or shame anyone. I preached it to explain a long-held teaching that is seldom, if ever addressed from the pulpit because we are facing an age where these issues are becoming both increasingly prevalent and normalized. If you do happen to feel judged, please know that God's mercy is larger than we can imagine, and that he really works through the sacrament of confession. God bless.
