What does it mean to be alive? If it’s a feeling, I can definitely point to different chapters in my life that I felt really alive. When I married my wife, I felt alive. When Annabelle was born and I saw her for the first time, wow, that was definitely a moment of feeling alive. When she opened her eyes, looked at me and held my finger while she was lying on that weight scale for newborns. Oh, talk about right at the feels. Whenever I accomplished a project that I initiated, I would feel alive. When I watch movies that I can relate with and see them overcome struggles like earth’s imminent annihilation by aliens with a snap of a finger, time warps, arch nemesis etc. I feel alive. However, these feelings are temporary. They come and go in spurts. They’re not constant. So being alive should be different. Being alive is not temporary. Being alive should encompass those feelings of alive but are constant everyday no matter what circumstances we are in. How do we get that? How do we, as our passage would use as a metaphor, get living water and LIVE? Let’s begin.
