Description

In celebration of Mandela Day, the JHGC education team looks at various ways in which people resisted the Nazis during the Holocaust.

In 1994 South Africa began a new era, as a free democratic nation, with Nelson Mandela as the first democratically elected president. This triumph came after decades of struggle and resistance by many South Africans against apartheid and institutionalised racism.

While in prison, Mandela and other activists and resisters were inspired by some stories of resistance from the Holocaust.
