Dear pilgrim, in addition to all our weaknesses as human beings, those of us who are pilgrims also suffer from this weakness: we are so forgetful, so forgetful of God's past interventions when we are in the middle of tough trials.
That's a weakness we must overcome in the power of the Holy Spirit. Like this hymnwriter, this should be our song in times of trial:
Ñis love in time past
Forbids me to think
He'll leave me at last
In trouble to sink'
Each sweet Ebenezer
I have in review
confirms his good pleasure
To help me quite through.
