Description

Mickey Buckins is an unsung hero of Muscle Shoals music. He’s been playing and writing music since the mid 60’s when he was the lead singer and guitarist of Mickey Buckins & The New Breed. In 1967 started working at FAME recording studio as an engineer, producer and songwriter as well as the percussionist of FAME’s rhythm section The Fame Gang. Mickey then moved to Atlanta to work with Bill Lowery where he continued to write, engineer, play and produce before returning to Muscle Shoals where he continues to write and make music. Some of Mickey’s most well known songs are “Tell Me a Lie” (Sami Jo, Janie Fricke, Bettye LaVette), “Double Lovin’” (The Osmonds, Spencer Wiggins), “Heart On A String” (Candi Staton, Jason Isbell) and “Victim Of A Foolish Heart” (Candi Staton, Joss Stone).
