Coming down off the mountain after seeing Jesus in his Glory, Christ tells Peter, James and John not to tell anyone about what they saw until Christ rose from the dead. What follows is a conversation that demonstrates that it all matters. Theology matters, the Old Testament matters, and context matters. You see the Christian faith is not built on a few select passages of scripture. It is grounded in all of scripture. Even the parts that offend, even the parts we don't like, even the parts that are hard to understand. There are some who think we need to unhitch our faith from these difficult texts, but this is misguided and even harmful as we will see in this text.
