After Jesus is arrested, we find Peter regains his composure and begins to follow Jesus to the home of the high priest. But what is important for us to see is that Peter, though he is following where Jesus is going, he is keeping his distance because being too close to Christ is dangerous. The truth is many Christians today feel a connection to Jesus and believe they are following Him, but when you examine their lives it seems they are keeping their distance just like the rest of the world. Following Jesus in this world can be dangerous, but Jesus bids us to deny ourselves and take up our cross and follow closely behind Him.
