In this episode, Dr. Sylvia Mendoza at the University of Texas in San Antonio, talks to us about the oral history projects West Side Sound, which documents the history and intersection of Black music (R&B, rock ‘n’ roll) conjunto, country and western music from the perspective of the musicians and their fans, and their knowledge and historical memory of the San Antonio community. This project is co-directed with Professor Gloria Vásquez Gonzáles.
