Bio:
Mike has been a key figure in Bristol’s underground music scene for over four decades. Starting with the city’s first Black music pirate station, BAD Radio, in 1987, he championed soul and funk at basements and blues parties when it was largely absent from mainstream clubs. Through the 1990s he worked at underground record shops Time Is Right and Bang Bang, while holding a long-running residency at Lakota’s legendary 1 Love house night — recently relaunched to wide acclaim.
As founder of the much-loved Hot Buttered Soul night, Mike has played a vital role in shaping Bristol’s nightlife, supporting local talent and hosting major international artists. He now presents a monthly show on SWU FM, spotlighting underground sounds old and new, and remains a highly respected, in-demand figure — with a brand new house night launching soon.
