"My Plea" is a piece scored for mixed choir and cello solo. It was composed as part of my undergraduate honors thesis which was centered around a poem written by the WWII Japanese Internment survivor, Mary T. Matsuzawa. Through the use of two main contrasting themes, I sought to illustrate both the suffering she experienced while interned at Gila River War Relocation Center (via an "A theme" written in minor mode) as well as the hope and comfort she found through her faith in God (via a "B theme" written in major mode).
