Let’s begin in Senegal with updates from the press briefing chaired by senior cabinet members of the government including Prime Minister Amadou Ba, the ministers of Interior, the Armed Forces and Trade.
Their briefings individually highlighted the violent demonstrations of June 1 and 2 against the backdrop of the sentencing of opposition politician Ousmane Sonko to 2 years in prison.
The government explained the delay in enforcing the court ruling in the "Sweet Beauty" case but also the blockade around the home of the Sonko.
Another concern addressed by the senior of President Macky Sall’s presidency is the controversy surrounding the images showing alleged armed henchmen alongside the police.
