Walter Powell says he retired from the NFL because he felt his purpose was to help create change. After playing four years in the league, he left the game to create a political startup company, Politiscope – an app that objectively breaks down politics, provides unbiased profiles on elected officials and empowers people to be more civically engaged by helping them register to vote. We speak with Walter about his unique journey to the NFL, how the recent wave of athlete activism and player protests helped inspire him to act and why he’s motivated to use his platform as an athlete to empower others and effect change.
