What exactly do Christians believe? There are so many different denominations and non-denominational churches around the world. Churches split because they disagree about all kinds of things. Is there any place that we can go to find out the essentials of the Christian faith? Any place we can go to discover what all Christians believe? Yes. The Apostles Creed is one of those places. The word “creed” comes from the Latin “credo” which means “I believe;” this is one of the earliest unified statements of faith in the Christian world, likely dating back to the 2nd century. Along with the Nicene Creed, The Apostles’ Creed is undoubtedly the most used, most familiar and most authoritative creed of Christianity. It has defined what it means to be a Christian for centuries and across languages and cultures. This is the single most fundamental expression of the Christian faith. Every week, we will be looking at the phrases in this creed and exploring what it means to say “I believe…” as a Christian, and how this actually changes our lives.
Listen as Pastor Clint examines the first phrase of the Apostles' Creed--"I believe in"--and how it points, clarifies, and distinguishes the Christian community in powerful ways.
