Like all the X-Men movies, except for a couple true stinkers (looking at you, Last Stand and Origins), APOCALYPSE gets better with each watching, and I actually liked it a lot when I first saw it, which wasn’t a popular opinion. The final battle puts the CIVIL WAR airport battle to shame in terms of both effects and true emotional stakes, and while it’s slow to get going, once Quicksilver shows up and the young ones start developing their powers things really take off in the second half of the film. If they can stick the landing next year with DARK PHOENIX, this new X-Men cast will go down as one of the best ensemble casts in any major film property in this Bizzle’s humble (and totally biased) opinion.
