The exiles of Israel have returned home to rebuild Jerusalem, rebuild the Temple, worship their God and restart their society, and start their lives all over again.
They get back to work, and a funny thing happens on the road to fulfilling their life-long dreams - they lose heart and interest in rebuilding. God sends the prophet Haggai to intercept this pivotal moment in their history and in doing so, gives us an essential message as well.
