The Staten Island Yankees are temporarily rebranding as the Staten Island Pizza Rats to get some fun publicity. For the promotion, the players will wear uniforms with the Pizza Rats logo for five games. If you don’t remember, New York’s “pizza rat” went viral when a clip of a rat dragging a piece of pizza hit the internet a few years ago. One of the games is scheduled for the same night as Italian Heritage Night – until the group holding the Italian heritage celebration decided to pull out because they were “offended” by the promotional logo.
