S P U N K Y (Dresden | GER ) - is one of Dresden’s music scene elders who started DJing in 1995. He was 11 when the wall came down and when asked he said his first vinyl was “Der Traumzauberbaum” (R. Lakomy & M. Erhard) - a children’s musical about a tree holding a song in each differently coloured leaf. Nice metaphor, let’s keep it in mind. :)
He grew up with the follow-up creative boost that hit the post-wall brave new world - a phenomenon surely shaping the music scene. It’s well presented in “Rauschen im Tal” (Schlaack)- a documentary on Dresden’s scene back in the days, also starring, suprise surprise: Spunky. Worth a watch on youtube!
Spunky amid changes grew passionately into this scene: playing music, hosting parties and even proudly running his own record store “Backstock Records” for a few years.
Surrounded by all kinds of music, the vinyl lover and collector holds all of those colourful song leafs: House, Techno, Funk, Soul, Disco, Hip Hop, Afro Beat, Jazz und Blues. It’s hard to put him in one box or even one hour. He certainly tried to fight us on the podcast time limit ;)
