This week on FemRadio, we're taking the lane! We listen in on a panel conversation on gender and cycling in Toronto that took place at the Parkdale library during bike month in June. "Taking the Lane" is a panel and cycling event aimed at starting a discussion around barriers that prevent women and LGBTQ folks from biking. The conversation unpacks barriers for women-identified people getting on the road and visions for the future, and how we can reduce the problem of gender inequity on the streets.
The panel is moderated by Tammy Thorne of Dandyhorse Magazine, and you’ll hear also the voices of Alex Legum from Charlies Free Wheels, Katie Whitman, a community cycling champion and researcher, Lavinia Tanzim of Bad Girls Bike Club, and Sivia Vijenthira of Spacing Magazine.
And Emily, Stacey and Zahraa have your Canadian feminist news headlines. Plus some Nelly Furtado realness, hot tips for your next move, and cat fountains!
