Jeff Mills is an American techno DJ and producer who has been active in the electronic music scene since the 1980s. He is widely considered to be one of the most influential figures in techno music and has been credited with helping to develop the genre from its roots in Detroit into a global phenomenon.
Jeff Mills began his career as a DJ in the early 1980s and in 1987 he joined the group Underground Resistance, which became a major force in the development of techno music. He later went on to establish his own record label Axis Records and has produced numerous solo albums as well as collaborations with other artists.
One of Mills' most significant projects is his Purpose Maker label which he launched in 1997. Purpose Maker was created as a platform for Jeff Mills to explore new sounds and experiment with different genres and has been responsible for some of his most innovative and groundbreaking work. The label has also served as a launching pad for a number of other techno artists and has had a major influence on the development of the genre.
Jeff Mills is known for his innovative use of technology in his music and has often incorporated elements of science fiction and futurism into his work. He has also been involved in numerous multimedia projects including film scores and installations.
