Description

John 6:54-55, He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.
Every day, we abide in Jesus so we can live with Him. The only way we can abide in Jesus is through His finished work on the cross, where He gave His flesh as a sacrifice for our sins. Without the shedding of blood, there’s no forgiveness of sins (Heb. 9:22). Without forgiveness of sins, there’s no way we can have access to God or have fellowship with Him. We can’t be His fruit bearing disciples if we are not cleansed, washed by His blood. We have His life in us, and that is only possible if our sins have been removed, and we have been made holy, one with Him at the cross. The apostle Paul wrote in Titus 3:5, “He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit.” So, there’s not a day that we don’t eat His flesh and drink His blood. Living to love with Jesus each day is based on the diet of true food and drink revealed in the gospel. We eat His flesh and drink His blood because we have eternal life.
We are encouraged by these two verses to eat and drink the true food and drink provided through His substitutionary death. He died for us so He might bring us to God, present us holy, blameless, and beyond reproach. Then the Father sends His Son from heaven to be the bread of life and our true drink. Out of the fellowship and union we have with Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit, we can rise to our calling to glorify God each day and on the last day. The way we glorify God is through Jesus Christ, as we abide in Him and He in us. Then the Vine can produce the fruit of faith and love in the branches. By this is the Father glorified as we bear or display much fruit.
Every circumstance and relationship is God orchestrated so He might be glorified in us as we trust and love with Jesus. Out of Jesus’ life abiding in us, we trust God and love others. The sustenance for that kind of living is the true food and drink, of which we continually partake every day until we die. Let’s eat, drink, and be merry in Christ!
