Romans 2:24 For "the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you,” just as it is written.
The prophet Isaiah wrote in 52:5, “Again the LORD declares, “Those who rule over them howl, and My name is continually blasphemed all day long.” Let’s not think this is only an Old Testament problem. Peter warned of false prophets who will arise among believers in 2 Peter 2:2 “And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned.”
Let this be a warning to us that we don’t want to be the reason why unbelievers would blaspheme God or malign the truth that Jesus is God and the savior of the world. Jesus told His disciples that if they abide in Him and He abides in them that they will bear much fruit and glorify the Father (John 15:5-8). He also taught that the world will know that we are His disciples by our love (John 13:34-35). One of the most important reasons we live to love with Jesus as our purpose in life is because it brings Him glory and honor instead of shame and dishonor. We have the privilege today to give Jesus a good name as we love with Him.
