Description

Romans 2:6 who will render to each person according to his deeds:
We learn from the apostle Paul that a day is coming when everyone will be judged by God, their creator. His wrath and righteous judgment will be revealed to all. He put it to the Corinthians this way in 1 Cor. 3:13-15. “Each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work. If any man’s work which he has built on it (that is, the foundation of Christ) remains, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as though fire.” In the next two verses of Romans, Paul gives more insight into the basis for God’s righteous judgment.
When we live to love with Jesus as our purpose in life, we are building on the foundation which has been laid. Our deeds have only two sources according to which God renders His judgment: Our deeds are either of flesh or of spirit. Deeds of the flesh are those which are apart from Jesus, and those which are of the spirit are deeds done in union with Jesus. Believers have the life of Jesus dwelling within them. As Jesus lives for them and through them and they live for His glory through Him, God’s righteous judgment is rendered that those deeds are rewarded by God. Everything you do today to love with Jesus will not be overlooked when that great day comes. You will face that day with confidence because as John wrote in 1 John 4:17. “By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.”
