Description

John 11:14-15 So Jesus then said to them plainly, "Lazarus is dead, and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let us go to him."
Not only did love for Mary and Martha lead Jesus to delay His response, but love for His disciples also. God orchestrates the affairs of life in order that we may believe in Jesus—that our faith might be displayed as wrought by God. The more helpless and desperate the situation, the greater the potential for God’s glory to be manifested as He gives us the faith of the living Jesus Christ. They needed to see that they could trust God in the face of death or any kind of suffering, for that matter. It is faith that overcomes in those times. This is true for us as well. We may learn with the disciples through this story. This didn’t just happen for their sakes, it happened for our sakes too. Watch what happens to your faith as we continue on in John 11 and go to Lazarus with Jesus.
