John 13:28-29. “Now no one of those reclining at the table knew for what purpose He had said this to him. For some were supposing, because Judas had the money box, that Jesus was saying to him, ‘Buy the things we have need of for the feast’; or else, that he should give something to the poor.”
We learned in John 12:6 that Judas had a greed problem. I’m commenting on Judas’ rebuke of Mary’s extravagant gift to Jesus. “Now he said this, not because he was concerned for the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it.” This makes me think greed can hinder the flow of love or make one susceptible to the devil’s suggestions. May we be on the alert to greed for money, attention, significance, or pleasure that would lead us to betray the life of Jesus in us.
