John 9:2 And His disciples asked Him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he would be born blind?"
One of the common fallacies or misconceptions is that if something bad happens to us, then we must have sinned. The lie is thinking that if we do good, good things will happen to us and if we do bad, bad things will happen to us. We think that’s how God administrates affairs in the kingdom. We see that this error in thinking has been around a long time. This lie will stumble and confuse us when we face trials and tribulations because most of us think we are good. If we follow this line of reasoning, then we will feel mistreated and even betrayed during those times. Next thing we know, we may harbor bitterness and distrust toward God and His Word. Like the disciples, we may also jump to wrong conclusions and judgments about people who are suffering. In such cases, the love of Jesus is stifled and the Spirit of God is quenched. Be careful not to think that we are above suffering and tribulation in this life because we are believers and Jesus’ beloved ones. Also let’s be on guard against making judgments of others who are suffering.
