John 9:5 While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world." This is the second time Jesus declared that He is the Light of the world in this visit to the temple. Obviously John didn’t miss this for he wrote, “And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all” (1 Jo. 1:5). Jesus is our light. The only way we can see how to live, love, understand the Scriptures and this world, is if we have Him, the Light, dwelling within us. John wrote that God is light and that God is love (1 Jo. 4:8), which I take to mean that the Light of the world is love—the love of God revealed in Jesus. So to walk in the light is to live to love with Jesus. Father, fill us with Your light, Your love today.
