John 9:6 When He had said this, He spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and applied the clay to his eyes,
Once before the Light of the world said, “Let there be light.” And there was light. Once before God took dust from the ground to make a man with eyes that He had designed. I wonder if those memories came to mind as He made the clay to bring light to the blind man. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit were working together to bring light into this man’s world of darkness. That’s what love does—it brings light into darkness, both literally and spiritually. That’s what was about to happen to this man. He was made for this moment, for the fulfillment of prophecy and the glory of God. “The people who walk in the darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them” (Is. 9:2). The same is true for all who believe in Jesus. Give thanks to God! We used to be like this blind man—walking in darkness and in a dark world. We were made for the fulfillment of prophecy and God’s glory.
