Romans 1:28 And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper,
One of the foundational truths of living to love with Jesus is Jesus’ view of God. He, and thus we, believe there is only one God from whom all things come. As Paul wrote to the Corinthians in 1 Corinthians 8:6, “Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.” Knowing this about God means we acknowledge His work and purpose in everything that occurs in our days.
Not so with the one who abides in God’s wrath. They go from bad to worse. We have witnessed the reality of this verse in our public square here in the US. Once someone or a culture doesn’t see any reason to acknowledge God at all, they become depraved in their minds. There’s nothing to restrain them. Their behavior displays their depravity of mind.
The Holy Spirit gets specific again in the following verses about the fruit of their lives. For today, let this verse spur us to live to love with Jesus and be expressions of the wisdom of God.
