Description

Romans 2:2 And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things.
One of many reasons we love with Jesus is because we know we have been loved even though we deserve God’s wrath. Paul affirmed in vs 2 of chapter 2 that we all know that it is right for God to judge sinners. Why do we believe in the gospel, the power of God for salvation? It’s because we also believe this verse is true. We know we are sinners, and thus we know what should rightly fall upon us—God’s judgment. What good news it is to our ears to hear that God chose to love us even when we were hostile to Him and His enemies. He caused His judgment to fall upon His one and only Son, Jesus, so His judgment would not fall upon us. In this is love, that He, Jesus, laid down His life for us. In this is love, that He, God, caused our sins and iniquities to fall upon His Son, so that we might be reconciled to God through His righteousness and raised to a new life in union with Jesus. This is right in the eyes of God who is love: that our sins should fall upon Him who created us and loves us. That’s why we live to love with Jesus. We love because He first loved us.
