Romans 1:29-31. being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful;
In verses 24-31 of this first chapter of Romans we discover what fills the life of someone who has a depraved mind due to not acknowledging God. The list should hopefully encourage us of the mercy of God which we have received.
It’s a descriptive list of the fruit of a bad tree—a tree that is to be chopped down by God. We shouldn’t think of it as a prescription for those who want to be Christian. The Holy Spirit says that a depraved person is full of these things which means they habitually spill out in their relationships.
Those who live by faith in Jesus are filled with very different fruit—the fruit of the love of Christ—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. What a contrast! Acknowledge Jesus in all your ways and He will produce good fruit in your life for the glory of God.
