It is very common for people to describe their connection to God (or relationship with Jesus) in terms of their church attendance. We naturally associate church attendance and involvement with the benchmark of what it means to follow Jesus. While it is certainly a very important part of the story, attending church is not the primary reason Jesus gave His life for the you and me. It’s more than attending church, although that is a big step for most of us at some point. We must move, grow beyond simple attendance to engagement. Why? Because we just don’t “go” to church, we “are” the church. So let’s “be” the church in the 167 hours we live in between the hour a week we spend “in” church.
