Description

Pierre Boulez served as music director of the New York Philharmonic from 1971 to 1977. His performances were noted for their accuracy and clarity — particularly in highly complex new music. He also impressed critics and audiences alike with fresh interpretations of traditional repertoire — especially the music of his countrymen. In this broadcast we hear Boulez conduct the score to the ballet La Péri by Paul Dukas.

And just because it's fun, we'll also hear Leonard Bernstein lead a performance of Beethoven's first piano concerto from the keyboard. Alec Baldwin is your host on the New York Philharmonic This Week.
