Description

With a heroic and romantic flair that one often finds in Wagner and Strauss, Johan Wagenaar’s Cyrano de Bergerac Overture explores the various traits of the title character from Edmon Rostand’s play . We then hear Beethoven’s thunderous Fifth Symphony, a work that appeared on the Philharmonic’s first program as well as on the its first commercial recording with Music Director Jaap van Zweden. Alec Baldwin is your host.
