Tangerine Dream | Canyon Voices (Change Request ReVision)
For this ReVision, having two major objectives in sight—remake a less popular Tangerine Dream song, and only use one synth/category of synths to do it—I dug into a lesser know record of the German electronic music pioneers, Tangerine Dream.
“Canyon Voices” is off of their fourteenth soundtrack album—Canyon Dreams—was stand out part of their compelling score to Jan Nickman’s film about the Grand Canyon, earning the group their first GRAMMY Award nomination.
Recorded in 1986 and released in 1991, this era of group featured Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke, and Paul Haslinger wrote and produced this whole album in preparation for it been synced with the motion picture.
Incorporating regional instruments and many native sounds of the American southwest, Tangerine Dream further confirmed that their grasp on dramatically emotive electronic music is a perfect fit for motion pictures.
“Canyon Voices” being a favorite work on this record custom soundtrack, I made this entire work with two instruments, utilizing only the top three emulations of them.
Classic Roland; Unmistakably Juno
I used the @ikmultimedia Syntronik take on the Juno-60, The @rolandcloud Juno-106, and—my personal fav—the ever impressive TAL U-NO-LX.
This was produced with @EventideAudio effects processing, including UltraReverb, SP2016 Reverb, and Tony Visconti’s Tverb, in addition to @Waves-Audio SSL Bus Compressor, H-Delay, and TrueVerb.
Enjoy!
