The Cure | In Between Days (Change Request ReVision)

For this ReVision, I did one of my all-time favorite tracks from the seminal British ensemble.

Written by Robert Smith—Smith solely wrote the entire full length—“In Between Days” was The Cure’s first single from their sixth album, 1985’s The Head on the Door.

Inspired by Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Human League, Smith wanted to present an album that featured a variety of styles and moods. This single—often compared to New Order’s "Dreams Never End”—was their first single to reach the Billboard Hot 100.

The lyrical content surrounding the maturity of loss is contrasted by the decidedly up-tempo music. This song sees a very familiar ensemble orchestration from The Cure, featuring Smith on vocals, guitar, and—the most distinctive instrument that came to define their unique sound—the 6-string bass.
