WILD SEEDS/SOMOS SEMILLA - Copyright 2016 – Liah Alonso

Somos la semilla
que va luchando
para sobrevivir
en nuestra, nuestra madre tierra
que esta apunto, punto de partir

(Liah’s Solo; Chorus Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh)
los criminales la estan matando
con su avaricia la estan robando
envenenando la tiera, el agua, mi gente
contaminan el aire, my agua mi mente

We are, we are the seeds
rising up beneath your feet
grow gardens in the night
and LOVE…
LOVE is ALL WE REALLY ARE
Fragments of a fallen star
spinning into light

You can build your wall
we'll be there to watch it fall
we won't hear your lies
we can't afford to compromise.
It's up to us to build the world that we want to SEE
billionaires have hijacked our democracy
so stand up and be counted if you're free like me
We are the seeds
WILD AND FREE
Ahhhhh ahhhhhh
SOMOS SEMILLA, SOMOS SEMILLA
Ahhhhh ahhhhhh

They tried to bury us they didn't know we were dangerous
we are seeds wild and free we are seeds wild and free!

Thank you to everyone who made this song possible.

To Klaudia Oliver, my dear friend and cultural alchemist, for introducing me to the SOMOS SEMILLA Project in San Miguel Mexico and for cheering me on as I sat on a hammock with my gold and blue glitter guitar and let pour out.

Wild Seeds/Somos Semilla was tracked with musicians Liah met and collaborated with in San Miguel, Mexico. Thanks to winds player Josue Caseres, Liah put together a band of amazing local musicians and recorded 5 songs. Studio engineer and owner Bruce Brown captured it in his beautiful studio with a magic elevator.

Originally this song was inspired by a mural I saw being painted on the side of the road. The mural had a giant skull emerging from a cornfield. It was a message from the Mexican farmers to Monsanto that "they are not welcome here" and that the people will fight back as best they could by conserving and preserving their sacred indigenous seeds. It is an uphill battle against these greedy corporations but seed banks and local co-ops help support these efforts which are really important for sustaining human life.
