In a recent BizNews podcast Alec Hogg interviewed Christo Wiese. Wiese was the chairman of Steinhoff when the fraud scandal involving the CEO Markus Jooste blew up. Wiese defended himself against knowing anything of the fraud in the business.
Something about his response made me feel very uneasy. I have sat with this for a while to interrogate for myself why I felt so uneasy with his answers. I explore my disease in this podcast and put forward a hypothesis as to how the fraud was so easy to hide.
