This week, we’re taking a break from our regular reviews and chat to highlight films about the Black experience that can help our listeners better understand Black history, Black identity, and what is behind the worldwide protests following the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and too many others. We also discuss a few racist tropes in film and TV history, simplify the police abolition movement, and share some tips on how to talk to your family and friends about race in a constructive way.
Your favorite ridiculous movie lovers believe that films are an important lens that can help us as viewers see things from different perspectives. We hope you are staying safe, speaking out against injustice, and educating yourself about the ways you are complicit in white supremacist systems. We certainly are.
The full list will be published on our Twitter, @ARidiculousPod, as well as on Instagram in the coming week.
