Description

The question is that in many of the hymns to God, to Mother Divine, there is a word that comes not so infrequently and that is paapnashini. Paap means sin or you may think it means sin or the common definition of sin but it is not just sin. Nashini means one who destroys your sins. Sri Krishna says to Arjuna, “you just seek my refuge, let go of all your concerns, worries, doubts. Because once you come in my refuge, I will set you free from dukha (a sense of suffering), from your papas (from yours sins) and I will take you to moksha, to nirvana, (to liberation, to redemption), to ultimate freedom.”

So what does paap (sin) mean? Paap does not mean wrong karma alone? Doing wrong action is not always a definition of sin. Paap basically means a deep sense of guilt you carry in your heart when you do anything you think was wrong. The world may think it was right thing to do but you deep in your heart may think that I did something wrong. When your perception is that I did something wrong, that is paap, that is sin.
