Description

The true meaning of Dhyana is to get familiarize with yourself. As soon as we are born, we are told that this is your mother, your father, your brother or sister, this is your house, this is a temple, this is a church, this is good or this is bad and so on and so forth. As a child grows older and he goes to school he is taught more things. He is taught about what is right or wrong for society or for the country. From all this imparted knowledge, he forgets about himself. He remembers everything else except the characteristics he is born with. He forgets who he really is.

Socrates used to say how do you know what you know? Whoever gave you the knowledge, how did he know? So, until the time we know the source of the knowledge imparted upon us on what is good or what is bad. We need to know the basis of that knowledge. We need to understand why things labeled as right or wrong are actually right or wrong or why do we believe in somebody as god or somebody as demon? Why is something moral or immoral? We need to question as to who has put us in this war of duality. One path to seek the answers to these questions is to do self-analysis till the time you are able to take off the layers of conditioning and find your true self.
