The question is does the guru need to be in physical form or can you have a guru that is not in his or her physical form? It’s not at all necessary to have a guru in a physical form and not everybody is ready to take on a guru in a physical form. And, not every guru is suited for every kind of seeker. Different guru expanding on different paths or having walked different paths are meant for those people who have let’s say the courage, the discipline or the faith or the surrender to walk the same path. In fact, as I said if you are sincere and genuine, your journey in fact is going to be better without a physical guru.
When you take on somebody who is in a physical form, you naturally have expectations from your guru. And each time your expectation is not fulfilled, you will either find yourself judging the guru or negating the guru or feeling guilty for doing that or not be able to reconcile with your own choice of having that guru.
