The question is sometimes it is difficult to practice detachment. It becomes difficult to stay detached and we keep doing things that keep us attached so how to stay detached? It is not easy to do anything in the beginning. In your life whatever you have to learn, it is always difficult in the beginning. Anything can be learned in your life. We have to learn everything. Nothing comes on its own. For example, when a child learns to walk, many times he or she cries because they fall. But, there is always a desire that I have to get up and touch the thing that is above me. I have to get there on my own. I don’t want to be dependent upon anyone.
Detachment or vairagaya or to walk on the path of evenness, the mind has to learn. In the beginning, the mind will be sad, will cry or become restless. When that happens, most of the people go back to their old tendencies because the mind is happy there. It does not have to do anything. But, if you want to be detached, then you need to have some principles in your life.
