Benxoai chants in which healing occurs through a direct struggle against dark forces. The medicinal doctor, a strong Shipibo woman, sings and smokes a pipe; there’s fire, there are stars, while a Shipibo patient is being healed. In order to maintain poetry and metaphors, nothing’s literal: there is no voice-over explaining anything in Meraya, but rather images and music speaking for themselves.
