Having written this song in the early 1990's, I never imagined that it'd be one of the songs that I wanted to record as a solo artist. My brother Marty Elisarraras recorded it in Nashville and I was so thrilled with that. I never recorded it myself, until this year."
Unbeknownst to Marty, I actually wrote this song as a response to his and his wife, Sheila Annette Elisarraras' relationship. They've been together since they were 14 and 15 years old! There's been ups and downs, but, they've always stuck through it.
When they were having a tough time this year, I decided to record this and dedicate it to them.
Backstory: I'm a HUGE James Taylor fan and have always loved his song "Carolina in My Mind". At the end of that song he adlibs, "I'm gone, say nice things about me, I'm gone, you'll have to carry on without me". I loved the idea of being "lost" in something, a hometown, a state, a memory ... and decided I wanted to write about being lost in someone. So, with Marty, Sheila and James in mind - this is the FINAL recording of the song, "I'm Gone (I'm Not Here, Baby).
I'm working on a video for this song with Marty & Sheila being prominently featured in it!
