Description

Growing up in Paso Robles I attended Winifred Pifer, Glen Speck Junior High and Paso Robles High School. But after school and meeting the friends one meets, you either ended up at a local party or the big football game .... or both.
But, in every thing you did ended up doing something involving or on Spring Street, the town's main road from the 101 to the 101.
This song is about those memories and those friends ... tgr

On Spring Street
music/lyrics by Thomas G Robinson

In my dad's white Chevy
Acting like it was mine
Turn onto Creston Road
And make a right on Vine
Told not to drive too fast
But, I can't be too late
Smell those fries at Smith's
School will have to wait

Remember my friend, Curtis
Remember my friend, Dave
One was a high school hero
One was my music mate
But, as the years came faster
We seemed to lose our way
Now, one's a high school memory
One's still a friend today

Cruising Foster's down to Polar Freeze
A&W served on skates was 'chic'
Fox Theater, got my first kiss - sweet
And all the action was on Spring Street

We met in kindergarten
Became the best of friends
Went to each other's weddings
Some friendships not to end
Surprising jealousies
Some friendships forced to end
And, Ward, that's truly one thing
I'll regret over and again

They built a brand new high school
It's up on Niblick Road
No grass, no stage, no spirit
We all felt the load
But, time restores all spirit
For Bearcats no defeat
Our school is now on Niblick
Our field? Still on Spring Street

I remember when it all made sense
Wish it was like it was back then
We were ready for our time to fly
We were young and time was on our side, yeah
Cruising Foster's down to Polar Freeze
A&W served on skates was 'chic'
Fox Theater, got my first kiss - sweet
And all the action was on Spring Street, yeah

Oh, I remember. I remember ..... Do you remember

Remember Mark and Brenda
Remember Michael Hall
Jody, Janet, Wanda
You know, I love 'em all

Darcy, Scotti, Elsa
Patrick, Dena, Sue
Sofia, Mia, Audy
And Marty Paris, too

I remember when it all made sense
Wish it was like it was back then
We were ready for our time to fly
We were young and time was on our side, yeah
Cruising Foster's down to Polar Freeze
A&W served on skates was 'chic'
Fox Theater, got my first kiss - sweet
And all the action was on Spring Street

All the action was on
All the action was on
It was all on Spring Street

Remember the Marijuana Motel
Remember when My cousin, Gilbert and I, would walk all over Spring Street with his giant boom box playing "More Bounce to the Ounce"
Remember Payne Music
Remember Redi Western
Remember Señor Sancho's
Remember Centino's Den and how we rented skates and skated all over town
You can get to Oak Park from Spring Sreet
You could get to my grandmother's house from Spring Street too ...
