This was my attempt to write a piano-driven rock song in the style of @ben-folds-official/@ben-folds-five, who were a massive inspiration to me when I was growing up and learning to play the piano. Don't know if I succeeded, but I'm pretty pleased with the result !

LYRICS:
[Verse 1]
How can you not see we're coming undone
that things have to change before we become
Trapped in regret, stuck living a lie
I'm tired of pretending now don't act surprised
The distance between us has grown through the years
but you've pulled me closer to hide from the fears
you can't face
[Chorus 1]
I need my own space
but you're smothering me
Tell me how can I grow
if you won't let me breathe
I know while I'm with you
I will never be free
when I keep putting
you before me
[Verse 2]
Tell me what you want
if there's something that you need
You can't expect me to guess
or do you think I can mind read?
It's time that we talked about you and me
Oh!
[Chorus 2]
Keep spreading my wings
but you're holding me down
Tell me how can I fly
if I can't leave the ground
I'm all ready to go
but you need me around
So I keep putting
you before me
[Bridge]
Now our history is a catastrophe
just look at the mess that we've made
Sometimes you can be your own worst enemy
I'm tired of the games that you play
I've stopped listening
every time that you talk
I hear the same shit every day
Might look like myself
but my mind's somewhere else
not hearing a word that you say
How did we let things get like this
This isn't how they should be
So everything's going to change
[Chorus 3/Outro]
Now this is the way
things are going to be
When I put myself first
no more you before me
It's high time that you learned
to stand on your own feet
find out who you can be without me
Now this is the way
things are going to be
When I put myself first
no more you before me
It's high time that you learned
to stand on your own feet
find out who you can be without me
